PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform side display in a small area display. SOLUTION: A horizontal shift register HSR comprises horizontal registeres divided into a plurality of (three) blocks. In a small area display, horizontal switches SW connected to respective pixel lines are simultaneously turned on in a horizontal blanking interval to be able to write a black level to an entire display or a divided side part.
