PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make constant the warning time of an alarm of a crossing road which is adjacent to a platform regardless of a train speed at the time of approach to the platform. SOLUTION: The train detection device is provided on the ground side so that it is reverse to the front-end position or the tail-end position of a train at the time when the train comes to a halt in a predetermined stopping position of a platform of a station. The train detection device comprises a detection means and an output means. The detection means detects the halt or the start of the train in the predetermined stopping position on the basis of the detection order of a plurality of train-detection sensors provided at predetermined intervals along the travelling direction of the train. The output means outputs a signal for the timing of the start of crossing warning on the basis of the halt detection or the start detection of the train by the detection means.
