PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of suppressing the time regarded as required for infrared communication to be shorter than heretofore and suppressing a risk of losing image data for extra prints even when trouble such as the removal of a battery happens. SOLUTION: A flash memory having a capacity of two images is used as a saving area. During processing for reception, the latest image data is left as it is and the image data stored two times before is erased. When image data is received by infrared communication or serial communication, the image data is stored in a RAM to be printed, and then is saved to the area where the image data is erased, thereby suppressing a risk of losing the image data.
