<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag system for a pedestrian capable of developing and inflating an airbag so that a longitudinal inflation unit can rapidly and correctly cover a front face side of a front pillar in the initial condition of the development and inflation. <P>SOLUTION: The airbag system for the pedestrian has an airbag 34 comprising a transverse inflation unit 38 and longitudinal inflation units 42, 42 extending backwardly from parts in the vicinity of right and left ends of the transverse inflation unit 38. A gas inlet part 44 to be connected to an inflator is arranged in the transverse inflation unit 38. The transverse inflation part 38 is demarcated into two transverse cell parts 39, 40. A rectification cloth 48 communicated with the gas inlet part 44 is arranged in one transverse cell part 39. The two transverse cell parts 39, 40 are communicated with each other at a part in the vicinity of the rectification cloth 48. The rectification cloth 48 has gas outlet holes 48a, 48b capable of allowing inflation gas to flow out to three sides, i.e., the right and left sides of the transverse cell part 39 and the transverse cell 40 side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
