<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedestrian protection controlling device to be installed on a vehicle, which precludes a pedestrian protecting device from actuating properly in the situation in which there is no need to actuate the pedestrian protecting device. <P>SOLUTION: The pedestrian protection controlling device for the vehicle is equipped with: a position sensing device 40 to acquire the collision information of a vehicle concerned with any pedestrian; and pedestrian protection determining parts 24 and 26 to determine whether the pedestrian protecting device 30 for protecting the pedestrian is to be actuated on the basis of the collision information, and to control the pedestrian protecting device 30 on the basis of the result from determination. A pedestrian non-existing place determining part 22 is further installed to determine whether the vehicle is located in a place free of pedestrians, and the pedestrian protection determining parts 24 and 26 suppress the actuation of the protecting device 30 if the determining part 22 determines that the vehicle is located in a place free of pedestrians. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
