<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microcomputer which can realize an emulation system using a microcomputer chip itself without using a large memory area for debugging if it cannot access an external memory. <P>SOLUTION: The microcomputer 40 has a first memory 42 to store user programs, a second memory 43 to store user data, and an interface 46 which transmits and receives monitor data and receives a specified number of commands included in monitor programs from a host computer 10.
