<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voltage compensator for performing voltage compensation surely when the system voltage drops instantaneously by preventing occurrence of restrike of arc in a switching means during voltage compensation thereby preventing shutdown of output from the voltage compensator due to an overcurrent protective function. <P>SOLUTION: When the system voltage 101 drops down to a level requiring compensation, the voltage compensator opens the contact of a switch 10 to supply a compensation voltage from an inverter to a load 2. When the virtual system voltage at a moment in time when compensation voltage supply is started is higher than a predetermined value, DC energy stored in capacitors 31, 32, 33 nd 34 is converted into AC energy by controlling inverters 41, 42, 43 and 44 selectively, and the compensation voltage from the inverter is increased stepwise to reach a level corresponding to the virtual system voltage so that restrike of arc does not occur at the contact of the switch 10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
