<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pinching detecting system which minimizes changes in the system and better fits a to cenesthsia by altering a pinching sensor using a pressure-sensitive sensor into another pinching sensor using a piezoelectric sensor. <P>SOLUTION: The pinching detecting system comprises a detecting section 1 and a control section 2. The detecting section 1 detects the acceleration generated in an opening/closing device based on the output voltage from the piezoelectric sensor 3 mounted on the opening/closing device and outputting the voltage according to the acceleration generated in the opening/closing device. The control section 2 determines whether an object is pinched by the opening/closing device based on the result detected by the detecting section 1. The detecting section 1 is connected to the control section 2 in series as a closed circuit so that a power source may be supplied, and is provided with a current control section 5 which changes consumption current Ir of the detecting section 1 based on the output of the piezoelectric sensor 3.
