<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information apparatus and operating method thereof in which practical usefulness and applicability can be expanded by reducing a malfunction caused by an action, performed by a user, applied from the outside of a main body of the portable information processing apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An acceleration sensor 2 is provided within a portable information processing apparatus 1, the action of the user applied from the outside of the apparatus 1 is detected by the acceleration sensor and in accordance with this detected operation, a corresponding vibrator 7 is vibrated. Furthermore, a preset application corresponding to the detected action is initiated, so that the user can recognize how his own action is detected by the apparatus 1 form the vibration of the vibrator 7.
