COMMUNICATION DEVICE AND DATA STREAM SWITCHING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of suitably switching paths for a plurality of data streams.

SOLUTION: In a communication device used for a communication system 1 which distributes data streams, a higher-generation information storage section 32 stores priority information representing priority levels of a plurality of higher-generation devices. A higher-generation information update section 33 updates the higher-generation information storage section 32 according to information sent from an arbitrary higher-generation device among the plurality of higher-generation devices. A distribution request section 31 refers to the priority information stored in the higher-generation information storage section 32 and sends a data stream distribution request to a first higher-generation device given top priority. The distribution request section 31 refers to the priority information stored in the higher-generation information storage section 32 when communication quality related to a data stream received from the first higher-generation device exceeds a predetermined threshold to send a data stream distribution request to a second higher-generation device given priority right below the priority given to the first higher-generation generation.
