PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal generator capable of generating a sequence of digital values according to a reference clock signal. SOLUTION: According to one embodiment of the present invention, the signal generator 3 is provided for generating the sequence of digital values according to the reference clock signal. This signal generator 3 comprises at least one input terminal 32, 33, 34 for receiving an increment signal (INC) and an offset signalΦ1,Φ2, a start value circuit 302 adapted for determining a counter start value on the basis of the offset signalΦand the increment signal (INC), a counter being adapted to be set to the start value, and to change the counter position at each cycle of the reference clock signal to a new value according to the increment signal (INC) until a defined value is achieved, and an output terminal for outputting the counter values.
