PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PWM converter device for an electric railway which can lessen the phase delay or the control delay caused by signal conversion and can improve the response synchronized with power at passage of a section. SOLUTION: For this PWM converter controller, a synchronous phase calculating means 15 which computes a power phase synchronized with the fundamental waves of power voltage by digitally processing the digital quantity of single-phase AC voltage converted by an analog digital conversion means 13, a converter voltage control means 16 which performs DC voltage control by adjusting the power factor, based on the power phase computed with the synchronous phase calculating means 15, and a PWM modulating means 17 which performs PWM modulation, based on the power phase computed with the synchronous phase calculating means 15, are constituted into the same digital operation processor 14.
