PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upright vacuum cleaner constituted so that an exhaust chamber incorporating an exhaust filter and having the exhaust port of a main body communicated to the outdoor air and a dust collecting chamber for collecting dust are closely arranged and the lid body in common to the exhaust chamber and the dust collecting chamber and the partition wall between the exhaust chamber and the dust collecting chamber are formed, wherein an appearance is improved without affecting the appearance of a lid body while securing sufficient strength of a partition wall and a higher performance is attained. SOLUTION: By using a member different from the lid body 8 as the partition wall 13, the reinforcement of thickening and strengthening the partition wall 13 is performed without affecting the appearance of the lid body 8, and this upright type vacuum cleaner of a higher performance and an excellent appearance is attained.
