4,4'-Disubstituted 1,2-diphenylacetylene derivatives (I) are new. 4,4'-Disubstituted 1,2-diphenylacetylene derivatives of formula (I) are new. Y : acyl, (perfluoro)alkylsulfonyl, (hetero)arylsulfonyl, alkoxycarbonyl or aryloxycarbonyl protecting group; L 1> and L 2> : fluoro, chloro, 1-6C alkyl or alkoxy, optionally with one or more H replaced by fluoro; r and s : 0-3; Z 1> : C 2H 4, CH 2CF 2, CF 2CH 2, C 2F 4, CH 2O, OCH 2, CF 2O, OCF 2, ethynyl, OCO, COO or single bond; A 1> : 1,4-phenylene (optionally with one or more CH replaced by N), 1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-cyclohexenylene, 1,4-bicyclo[2,2,2]octylene, piperidin-1,4-diyl, (decahydro)naphthalen-2,6-diyl or 1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalen-2,6-diyl, all optionally substituted by one or more fluoro; m : 0-2; R 1> : hydrogen, halo, cyano,1-25C linear or branched alkyl with one or more H replaced by fluoro and/or one or more non-adjacent CH 2 replaced by O, ethynyl or ethenyl.
