A display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to form the second alignment key by a laser marking process instead of the photo process of a black matrix. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel(400) includes a display area(DA) for displaying an image, a seal line area(SA) for encapsulating the display area and a peripheral area(PA) equipped at the outside of the seal line area. A lower substrate(100) includes a TFT(Thin Film Transistor) layer(120) having plural TFTs formed at the display area on the first insulating substrate(110). A passivation layer(130) is formed on the TFT layer. A color filter(150) is formed on the passivation layer and emits the predetermined color to the light. A pixel electrode(160) is connected electrically to the TFT layer.
