A label (15) with information on it is placed behind the damaged area (13) of the window (9), then an image is taken of this area with the label behind it and the image is stored in a fraud-proof format. The label is a self-adhesive one with information on it concerning the vehicle, along with the owner's signature. The image is taken using a hand-held scanner.
