PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL DEVICE AND THE OPERATING METHOD OF THE SAME

A plasma display panel device and a driving method thereof are provided to prevent the degradation of a fluorescent body and to reduce an afterimage, by reducing the number of sustain discharge times and setup signals applied to a discharge cell in a black region formed around OSD(On Screen Display) rather than in displaying a moving picture. A plasma display panel device has a pulse driving unit for varying the maximum voltage levels of a setup signal(R1) and a setdown signal(R2) applied during a reset period and the number of application times of the setup signal and the setdown signal, for a cell executing OSD. The setup and setdown signals form a signal having at least one gradient during the reset period.
