A method for searching a file hierarchical structure in an information terminal device is provided to quickly and accurately move to a position desired by a user, to effectively utilize a small screen and to efficiently search a file hierarchical structure by using a title region in a device with a small screen. A controller checks whether a menu for searching a file hierarchical structure is selected(201). When the menu for searching the file hierarchical structure is sensed, the controller displays a function icon and content of a default folder on a display unit(202). The controller checks whether a function icon is selected(203). When a function icon for moving to an upper folder is selected, the controller displays an upper folder(205). When a folder list open function icon is selected, the controller displays an overall hierarchical structure on the display unit(207) and checks whether a folder selection is sensed(211). When folder selection is sensed, the controller displays a corresponding folder on the display unit(213). When a frequently visiting folder open function icon is selected, the controller displays frequently visiting folders on the display unit(209) and checks whether a folder is selected(211). When a folder selection is sensed, the controller displays the corresponding folder on the display unit(213).
