<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of properly arranging a paper feed stand and paper delivery stand even if power source is shut off from a stand by condition, improving working efficiency, and suppressing waste of electric power due to reclosing power source. <P>SOLUTION: A control means checks whether a predetermined time elapses or not when a device main body is put under a standby condition (S1). It is checked whether the paper feeding stand is at a lower limit position (home position) where storage can be done of not after predetermined time elapses (S2). After that, it is checked whether an end fence and a side fence of the paper feed stand are at home position where storage can be done when the paper feeding stand is at the lower limit position (S3).
