<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quicken the information acquisition cycle of a preceding vehicle in accordance with the approach level of its own vehicle and a preceding vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: An inter-vehicle distance sensor 1 transmits a laser beam within a predetermined range 20 while changing the angle of transmission only by every predetermined angle, and acquires the information of the preceding vehicle on the basis of the laser beam to be received while the transmission of the laser beam goes back and forth in a horizontal direction. A controller 5 detects the approach level of its own vehicle and a preceding vehicle, and quickens the information acquisition cycle of the preceding vehicle by narrowing down the transmission range of the laser beam to be transmitted by the inter-vehicle distance sensor 1 according as the detected approach level is made higher. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
