PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit apparatus for a power semiconductor switch in a bridge circuit, preferably a monolithically integrated circuit wherein the switching state of at least one power semiconductor switch at a secondary side is detected on a primary side by using a simple and integrable means, and to provide an associated method. SOLUTION: For the detection of the switched state of a TOP switch (50) on a primary side (20), this side comprises circuits (46, 47 and 48) for the detection and interpretation of a current flow through a level shifter (44). A first lower threshold of this current through the level shifter detected on the primary side is assigned to the not-switched-on TOP switch (50) of the bridge circuit, and a second upper threshold of this current through the level shifter detected on the primary side is assigned to the switched-on TOP switch (50) of the bridge circuit.
