摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device which can realize initial transfer at higher speed compared with a case where dot inversion driving is performed, without particularly contriving the shape of pixel electrodes. SOLUTION: During initial transfer in the liquid crystal device, a voltage application operation of not only applying an equal voltage to all pixel electrodes corresponding to an arbitrary first row but also applying such voltages to a plurality of pixel electrodes in a second row adjacent to the arbitrary first row in a column direction that the voltages of two pixel electrodes on both sides of one arbitrary pixel electrode are higher or lower together than that of the one pixel electrode is performed on at least some of the plurality of pixel electrodes in a display area.
