PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shunt type stepless transmission of small size and excellent durability by shunting the transmission torque over the entire speed range, from a low vehicle speed to high vehicle speed. SOLUTION: The shunt type stepless transmission comprises a CVT, and a Ravigneaux type planetary gear set 3 so configured as to represent rotational frequency with a single lever on a collinear graph. A rotation is inputted from a damper 2 with a carrier Carr which is an element and is positioned in the middle of the lever as an input element. The rotation is taken out, with either a large-diameter sun gear Sun1 or small-diameter sun gear Sun2, which are a plurality of elements on both end sides of the lever across the input element, as an output element, constituting one transmission path for transmitting a shunt torque T1 between the carrier Carr and the large-diameter sun gear Sun1, in the Ravigneaux type planetary gear set 3. Outside the Ravigneaux type planetary gear set 3, the large-diameter sun gear Sun1 and the small-diameter sun gear Sun2 are coupled together by a V-belt type variator 5 that can change gear ratio steplessly, constituting another transmission path for transmitting a shunt torque T2.
