PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary chamber type internal combustion engine capable of reducing cooling loss. SOLUTION: This auxiliary chamber type internal combustion engine 100 is provided with a main combustion chamber 63, an auxiliary chamber 161, a first communicating passage 162, and an ignition plug 29. The auxiliary chamber 161 is adjacent to the main combustion chamber 63. The first communicating passage 161 communicates the main combustion chamber 63 with the auxiliary chamber 161. The ignition plug 29 ignites new air air-fuel mixture introduced into the auxiliary chamber 161 from the main combustion chamber 63 through the first communicating passage 162 to generate first flame and second flame. The first flame has a first peak. The first peak is a peak of radiation speed. The radiation speed is speed when flame is radiated into the main combustion chamber 63 from the auxiliary chamber 161 through the first communicating passage 162. The second flame has a second peak.
