PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external gear pump capable of suppressing the deterioration of flow of working fluid when it flows out from an engagement part. SOLUTION: In this external gear pump 1, the working fluid is discharged from a suction side to a discharge side, by rotation of a drive gear 20 and a driven gear 30. In non-contact side tooth flanks 22b, 32b of the drive gear 20 and the driven gear 30 which do not contact with tooth flanks of the other gear during rotation, recess parts 22e, 32e respectively opened in both end parts in gear axial directions of the non-contact side tooth flanks 22b, 32b are formed. The recess parts 22e, 32e are formed such that their cross sections in the gear circumferential directions are gradually increased toward the end parts in the gear axial directions.
