<p>A method for providing handover for a DHCP service user between subnets in a portable Internet system is provided to make handover between the subnets performed and make the same IP address used when the DHCP service user moves between packet access routers to receive a service, thereby providing a seamless service to the DHCP service user. A handover providing method comprises the following steps of: adding an option for selecting a first subnet while assigning an IP address to a mobile terminal, and providing a message to a DHCP(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server(108)(S206,S207); providing a second subnet with context information including the IP address, assigned to the mobile terminal, and the address of the first subnet, used in the option for selecting the subnet, when the mobile terminal requests the handover from the second subnet, to which the terminal will be handed over, according to a handover request from the mobile terminal; and generating an encapsulation tunnel to the second subnet in order to transmit a packet, which will be transmitted to the mobile terminal, to the second subnet according to handover acceptance from the second subnet(S227,S229).</p> |
