A high power amplifier multiplexing apparatus in a TMA and a control method thereof are provided to enable an amplifier control detector to intercept the power of a main transceiving amplifier where a failure has occurred, thereby continuously providing a communication service by driving plural preliminary parallel amplifiers of the other multiplexed path. A high power amplifier multiplexing apparatus in a TMA(Tower Mounted Amplifier)(100) comprises the followings: a signal synthesizing/separating unit(110); transmission/reception sharing devices(120,390); switch units(160,330); a switching controller(260); a receiving amplifier(360); a transmitting amplifier(190); and an amplifier control detector(270) which detects a signal state of the transceiving amplifier. If a main transceiving amplifier is normal, the amplifier control detector(270) applies no power to a preliminary transceiving amplifier. When failure occurs in the main transceiving amplifier, the amplifier control detector(270) cuts off power of the main transceiving amplifier where the failure has occurred.
