An optical assembly, which is proper for a silicon optical bench, is provided to simplify manufacturing process by reducing the number of arranging, welding, and coupling processes. An optical assembly includes an optical bench(3), a housing, an optical ferrule receptacle(21), and a flexible substrate(5). The optical bench includes a photoelectronic element, which is mounted on the substrate. The housing includes a first mating region. The optical bench is contained inside the housing. The optical ferrule receptacle includes a second mating region and optically couples the optical bench with an optical fiber. The housing and the optical ferrule receptacle are coupled with each other at the first and second mating regions. The flexible substrate is arranged to be contacted with the inner surface of the housing to reduce an inner stress. |
