The riser 30', particularly for use with chambers such as are used for telecommunications junctions, comprises at least one side element and at least one corner element 32a,32b, each element having two ends that are provided with one or more fingers 34, 36 designed to interlock with fingers of an adjacent element. The elements are arrangeable to form a closed ring section in any one of at least two dispositions with the fingers fully interlocked in a first, small disposition and with only the ends of the fingers interlocked in a second, larger disposition, with the elements being moved between the dispositions in a direction parallel to the fingers. The or each side element preferably comprises a corner element, with the corner elements being L-shaped such that four corner elements can form a complete rectangle. Each end of the corner elements may have one or two fingers which are rectangular in cross-section. The fingers may include dove-tail bulges and corresponding recesses to aid location of the fingers in the first and second dispositions. The elements may include surface features to improve the adhesion thereto by cement mortar and location lugs arranged to correspond with surface features of a chamber with which the riser is intended to fit. Also claimed is a combination of a chamber and the riser. |
