Method and device for controlling a gear change mechanism

A gearshift mechanism has a gearshift link, a disengaging link and a selection actuator that moves the gearshift link out of a selection channel at points set apart from each other into gearshift channels (S1-S3) so as to engage a gear. The disengaging link couples to the gearshift link so that it disengages a previously engaged gear when a new gear is engaged. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a gearshift mechanism.
