A photographic material comprises a support bearing a silver-halide emulsion layer which contains a thermo-labile salt of formula which on heating liberates a developer of formula wherein X is a hydroxyl or a secondary amino group, R is hydrogen or an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Y is hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine, m is 0 to 3 and 2 is nitrile, trifluoro-, trichloro-, tribromo- or triiodomethyl or trinitratomethyl. In the example, a silver bromide paper soaked in p-aminophenol trifluoracetate is imagewise exposed and then steamed to develop the latent image. 2-amino-5-diethylaminotoluene trichloracetate and p-methylamino-phenol trichloracetate are also specified as thermolatile salts.
