A remote controller for an electronic device is provided to enable a controller to search a portable memory through a portable memory recognizing unit when a key signal is inputted from a keypad and scan remote code data corresponding to the inputted key signal, and enable a synthesizer to synthesize the remote code data with a predetermined clock, thereby providing high compatibility by using the remote controller for plural electronic devices through replacement of the portable memory storing differential code data. A remote controller for an electronic device comprises the followings: a keypad(102); a portable memory(108) storing remote code data corresponding to a key signal so as to match with code control data for code recognition stored in a data storage unit within the electronic device; a portable memory recognizing unit(106) which recognizes the removably-mounted portable memory(108) and reading the remote code data; a controller(104) which searches the portable memory(108) through the portable memory recognizing unit(106) when the key signal is inputted from the keypad(102), and scans the remote code data corresponding to the inputted key signal; a synthesizer(110) which synthesizes the remote code data, outputted from the controller(104), with a predetermined clock, and then outputs the synthesized remote code data; and a transmitting unit(116).
