A brake-pad holder having means for connection to a brake calliper mechanism on a rear surface, and having a brake pad locating slot 28 on the front surface, said slot being of a dovetail cross-section and being open at one end 36 and closed at the other end and having a longitudinal axis 30, wherein the radially innermost side of the slot widens out 32 at the open end 36 and wherein the radially outermost side defines an arcuate cutout 34, such that a dovetail projection of a brake pad can be inserted into the slot at an angle to the longitudinal axis 30 of said slot, and then swung into alignment with said slot. The slot axis 30 may be at an angle of no more than 6{ to a pivot axis of the calliper mechanism 22. This design enables a larger brake pad to be inserted into the holder without contacting the wheel rim. |
