A high voltage protection apparatus of an SMPS(Switching Mode Power Supply) is provided to prevent breakage of parts due to high voltage by protecting an SMPS circuit from the high voltage. In a high voltage protection apparatus of an SMPS, a first device filters and rectifies AC voltage and applies the AC voltage to a primary side coil(L1). A second device induces the AC voltage generated from the primary side coil(L1) and outputs as desired DC voltage. A switching circuit(500) switches current flow on/off to the primary side coil(L1) to adjust the DC voltage. A voltage detecting unit(600) detects the DC voltage. A feedback circuit(700) feedbacks the detected DC voltage. A controlling circuit(800) controls the DC voltage applied to the feedback circuit(700) to feedback to the switching circuit(500). A voltage detecting and protecting circuit(300) protects by stopping the operation of the controlling circuit(800) when the AC voltage rectified by the first device is higher than SMPS guaranteeing voltage.
