An assembly is disclosed for mounting a strap to a sports instrument 2. The assembly comprises a mounting element 6 situated in the strap 1, a slot 5 in the sports instrument 2 for accommodating a mounting element 6, especially a metallic mounting plate, and fixing means for securing the mounting element in the slot. The fixing means comprises a spring-loaded locking element, especially a peg, which reaches into the slot and cooperates with a retaining element 7, especially an opening in the mounting plate. A gap 11 is arranged to slide over contours on the peg. Slanted surfaces 10 on the plate cause the peg to rise upward as the mounting plate is inserted deeper into the slot until peg 3 enters the peg opening and the strap is secured to the sports instrument. The strap may be detached by pressing a knob on the peg so the a recess groove 14 is aligned with the peg opening 7. |
