<p>A stent is normally designed as a tube with a grid structure in order to facilitate a connection to the surrounding tissue. The new design of a stent is provided with a coating in order to avoid a new blocking by tissue grown into the tube. The coating is extremely thin and can contain aluminum oxide, titan oxide, a calcium compound, germanium oxide, magnesium oxide, selenium oxide, or a hydroxide. The coating can be only partially applied or in several coats at certain places as required.</p> |
