<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of an unexpected situation by preventing opening of a lower cover when an upper cover is closed and to prevent the occurrence of a jam at a paper conveying passage, in a paper conveying device wherein the outside of a paper conveying passage in a vertical direction is covered with openable upper and lower covers. SOLUTION: A sheet conveying device comprises a hook member 40 hooked at a stud 37 and locking in a state to close a lower cover 25 when the lower cover 25 is closed; and an abutment member 45 to regulate hook release operation of the hook member 40 in a way that the abutment member makes abutment against an upper cover 25 when the lower cover is about to open with the upper cover 30 closed. When, with the upper cover 30 closed, an external operation lever 41 is rotationally operated and the lower cover 25 is about to first open, the abutment member 45 is brought into abutment against the upper cover 30 and release of latching of the hook member 40 is regulated and the lower cover 25 is prevented from opening.</p> |
