A method for controlling the locking of data based on number information in a mobile communication terminal is provided to automatically lock specific data corresponding to a registered phone number by configuring a 'data locking number' menu and adding/editing/deleting a plurality of phone numbers which a user wants to lock through the menu to automatically lock/unlock data based on specific number information. A user selects at least one or more numbers necessary for being locked(S101). A mobile terminal sets a password for locking data associated with the selected numbers(S102-S104). The associated data include at least one or more of a transmission number, a text message, a called list, a phone number, and a photo.
