<p>An apparatus and a method for controlling ranging of mobile terminals in a wireless communication system are provided to enable a base station to measure phase change by using a signal received from the terminal, predict delay of the received signal, and control periodical ranging of the terminal by using the predicted delay. An apparatus for controlling ranging of mobile terminals in a wireless communication system comprises the followings: an RF(Radio Frequency) module(110) for converting a signal of a wireless frequency band, received from plural terminals through an antenna, into a signal of a low frequency band; an FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) module(120) for converting the signal of the low frequency band into a signal of a frequency domain; a derandomizer(130) for performing derandomizing of the signal of the frequency domain by using random sequences transmitted from the terminals; a depermutation module(140) for combining and outputting signals of the frequency domain, outputted from the derandomizer(130), in a burst unit; and a ranging controller(150) for controlling periodical ranging of the terminals corresponding to each burst by estimating phase change in the frequency domain signal of a burst unit.</p> |
