A mobile terminal and its power ON/OFF control method is provided to enhance accuracy in controlling turning on/off power by accurately determining whether a power is turned on by inputting a key input. An MSM(Mobile Station Modem) determines whether a mobile terminal is in a power-on state according to a key input by a user according to a key sense signal, and checks a key input duration time to control to implement both long key function and power-down simulation function. When the key input is generated, an ON switch signal generating unit(100) generates an ON switch signal. A power ON signal generating unit(200) generates a power ON signal for controlling ON/OFF of power of the mobile terminal according to the ON switch signal and a hold signal outputted from the MSM. A key sense signal generating unit(300) generates the key sense signal by delaying the ON switching signal for a certain time.
