A washing apparatus is provided to increase the washing efficiency of the laundry through the steam method by lifting the steam from the lower part to the upper part. A washing apparatus comprises: a body(100) forming the external appearance; an out tub(200) connected with a drain pipe(210) at the lower part; a drum(300) rotatably mounted in the out tub; a steam providing unit(400) containing a water storage container(410) mounted at the lower position than the center of the body, and a heat-emitting heater(420) for heating/evaporating the water stored in the water storage container; a main steam supply pipe(610) for supplying the steam generated at the steam providing unit in the out tub; water supply valves(511,512) operated to selectively supply the washing water and the water for generating the steam; a water supply pipe(520) whose one end is communicated with the water storage container and other end is connected to the water supply valve; and a control unit for selectively controlling the water supply valve. A storage unit(220) is projected to the lower part at the part where the drain pipe is connected, and a heater(230) is installed in the storage unit. |
