An illumination optical system of a color image projection apparatus is provided to be more efficient in the improvement of image quality, long life, and miniaturization by improving optical efficiency. LEDs(Light Emitting Diodes)(101-103), disposed in inter-different coordinate axes on a certain X-Y planar coordinate, generate color optical beams of inter-different wavelength zones and emit the generated color optical beams toward a coordinate origin. An optical lens is disposed on the same axis in a coordinate axis matched with one of the LEDs(101-103) to transmit the color optical beams emitted from the LEDs(101-103) to an image generating part(200). An optical path changing part(120) is disposed on the X-Y planar coordinate origin to separately interfere with progress paths of the color optical beams emitted from the LEDs(101-103) and alternately input the color optical beams to the optical lens.
