An electron emission display and a driving method thereof are provided to restrict the consumption of power and to prevent degradation by restricting luminance of each pixel if the electron emission display expresses high gray scale. An electron emission display includes a pixel unit(100) receiving a data signal and a scan signal for displaying an image; a data driving unit(200) generating the data signal by using video data and transmitting the data signal to the pixel unit; a scan driving unit(300) transmitting the scan signal to the pixel unit; a timing control unit(400) transmitting a driving signal for driving the data and scan driving units; a data processing unit(500) generating a control signal corresponding to frame data which are output by adding up the size of the video data inserted into one frame; and a power supply unit(600) generating and supplying driving power to each unit. The luminance of the pixel unit is changed along a hysterisis curve by the control signal.
