An ink-jet image forming apparatus and a method for higher resolution using a multi-pass are provided to prevent the deterioration of image quality due to a damaged nozzle by varying an impacted point of ink droplet with moving a print head in a lengthwise direction even when some of nozzles of the print head are damaged. In an ink-jet image forming apparatus, a print head(111) movable in a second direction with respect to a print medium(P) prints an image by jetting ink on the print medium. A first transfer path(142) guides the transfer of the print medium for transferring the print medium to the print head. A second transfer path(144) connected to the first transfer path guides the image printed print medium to be transferred to the first transfer path again. A path switching guide unit(150) guides the print medium to be arranged or transferred to the second transfer path. Print medium transfer units(113,115,116,117) installed on the first and second transfer paths transfer the print medium along the first and second transfer paths. A head transfer unit(160) transfers the print head to a second direction. A control unit synchronizes the operation of the path switching guide unit, the print medium transfer unit, and the head transfer unit for impacting the ink jetted from the print head on a designated point of the print medium. A control unit(130) transfers the print medium to the second direction when transferring the print medium to the first transfer path through the second transfer path.
