An image stretching method, an apparatus therefor, and a recording medium in which a program to embody the same is recorded are provided to improve contrast effect without being influenced by minimum and maximum values of an input pixel value for a picked-up image. An input pixel value receiving module(400) receives a luminance value of a pixel about a picked-up image. A representative value operating module(402) operates a representative value of an input pixel value. An output pixel value determining module(406) determines an output pixel value in a predetermined gray level range by using a function in which the operated representative value is set up as an inflection point.
