A remote control device and a remote control method are provided to select an instrument remotely operated by the remote control device through operation of an instrument selection operator, so that a used electronic instrument only is powered on while an unused electronic instrument is powered off at the same time, thus maneuverability is improved. A memory(16) stores information on plural controlled target instruments. An instrument selection operator(11) conducts operation by remote control among the stored plural controlled target instruments. A controller decides on a selected instrument, generates a remote control signal for powering on the selected target instrument, and generates a remote control signal for powering off the stored target instruments except the selected instrument. A transmitter(12) transmits the respective remote control signals. |
