An element of an air cleaner for a vehicle is provided to reduce the number of processes and costs by eliminating the necessity of using a rubber packing and a plastic body. An element comprises an upper plate member(4) and a lower plate member(6) which are butt joined. The upper plate member and the lower plate member have edges with flanges(8,10) of a predetermined width, and inner portions formed into a symmetrical wave form, in such a manner that an upward protrusion(16) of the upper plate member and a downward protrusion(18) of the lower plate member form an air layer of diamond-like shaped closed space.
