A wave generating apparatus of a running pool is provided to continually push the water in the channel and improve the wave-generating performance along with the channel by controlling discharge port-opening and closing parts and increasing the discharge speed of the water. A wave generating apparatus(10) of a running pool is composed of a lower tank(11) connected to a water path(3); an upper tank(15) placed at the higher position than the water path; at least one discharge port-opening and closing part(20a,20b,20c) for opening and closing at least one discharge port; a slope(16) connecting the side where the discharge port of the upper tank is placed and one side of the water path; and a control part(30) controlling the drive of the pump and the discharge port-opening and closing part. The discharge port-opening and closing part contains a step motor, a worm wheel combined with the step motor, a vertical bar, and a water gate lifted by the worm wheel and the worm gear-combined according to the drive of the step motor.
