A display system, a display device, and a method for controlling a video source and the display device are provided to effectively solve an overlapped area without making a user perform troublesome key operations if the overlapped area is generated in a screen when a PIP(Picture-In-Picture) function is performed. A controller(50) changes an attribute of at least one of a display area of an active program window in the main screen and the display area of a sub screen to prevent the area overlapped between the display area of the active program window in a main screen and the display area of the sub screen. A video source controller(65) requests display area information of the subs screen to the display device and determines whether the overlapped area is present or not by comparing the received display area information of the sub screen with the display area information of the active program window. A display controller(75) provides the display area information based on a PIP process to the video source if a request signal is received from the video source. |
