A percutaneous absorption type cerebral protective agent characterized by comprising a base and 0.1 to 30 wt.% either 3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one, represented by the following formula, (1) or a medically acceptable salt thereof contained as an active ingredient in the base; use of that compound as an active ingredient for the production of a percutaneous absorption type medicinal composition for brain protection; and a method of protecting the brain, which comprises administering the medicinal composition as an active ingredient to a patient.
